The Utah Department of Transportation will have new information next month on a project aimed at detouring heavy industrial traffic, much of which travels to and from the Uintah Basin, off of Highway 40 through the Heber Valley. The Heber Valley Corridor EIS began its NEPA overview and early scoping in Spring of 2020 followed by a refinement process and developing the alternative route from summer 2021 through spring 2025. The Heber Valley Corridor EIS project team has been working with the stakeholders, with a focus on enhancing mobility through the Heber Valley and improving the operation of Heber City Main Street. The proposed routes of the corridor are on the west side of Heber City. The Heber Valley Corridor Draft EIS and the preferred alternative route is expected to be published on January 7th which will then be followed by a formal 60-day public comment period beginning on January 9th and ending on March 9th. A virtual public meeting will be held on January 27th and an in-person public open house and hearing will be held on January 28th.
