An arrest several months in the making happened on Friday at a Lapoint residence. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, in September, an employee of Moon Lake Electric reported that a residence was hooked up to an unauthorized power supply. The estimated total amount for the theft of services equaled $4,883. After several months of failing to make contact with the current tenant at the residence, officers obtained a search warrant after it was learned the tenant already had a Class A warrant. After multiple call outs, officers made entry into the home and located the tenant, Travis Nielson, inside one of the bedroom closets. Nielsen resisted lawful commands to exit and then resisted arrest. “Mulitple items related to narcotics such as methamphetamine and paraphernalia was discovered…Inside the closet, Travis was laying on the meth pipe and 16 grams of methamphetamine.” There was also baggies, packaging, and a scale with residue consistent with distributing illegal narcotics. An AR style rifle with a magazine containing live ammo was also located in the residence. 55-year-old Travis Glendon Nielson was booked into Uintah County Jail and is charged with 1st Degree Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, 3rd Degree Felony Prohibited Dangerous Weapon Conduct, and several misdemeanor charges.
