On Monday, the Bureau of Land Management opened a 30-day public scoping period to receive public input on 39 oil and gas parcels totaling 54,114 acres that may be included in a June 2026 lease sale in Utah. The parcels are largely located in Uintah County with some located in San Juan County and Grand County. The comment period ends January 15, 2026. “Please note that the most useful comments are those that identify issues relevant to the proposed action or contain new technical or scientific information,” shares the BLM announcement. “Comments which contain only opinions or preferences, or comments that are essentially identical to other comments will not be specifically addressed in the environmental documents, but may be considered in the decision-making process.” Comments must be submitted electronically via the BLM Land Use Planning and NEPA Register. Comments must be received by 4:30 pm on January 15th, 2026. Any scoping comments received by other methods will not be accepted.
