Family and friends have identified the Roosevelt girl that was killed after being hit by a car that was running a red light on Wednesday. A GoFundMe fundraiser has shared that the girl was 12-year-old Lydia Love and described her as “pure light…outgoing, strong, full of joy, and the kind of child who naturally made the world around her feel warmer.” It also shared that this is the second tragic loss of a child in the family. A link to the gofundme titled ‘Support for Lydia’s Family in Their Loss’ is shared with this news story on BasinNow.com. Roosevelt City Police issued a press release on the accident, sharing the following: On Wednesday, December 3rd, at 3:55pm, Roosevelt Officers responded to a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. Preliminary investigations indicate that a 12-year-old female pedestrian, a resident of Roosevelt, was crossing 200 East in the designated crosswalk with a friend. Thus far in the investigation, it appears that a vehicle traveling south on 200 East disregarded a red traffic signal/light and struck the girl in the crosswalk. The 12-year-old victim was transported to UBMC, where she was awaiting transport via LifeFlight. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries prior to transport. The Roosevelt Police Department, in collaboration with the Utah Highway Patrol, is conducting a comprehensive investigation. Upon conclusion, the findings will be submitted to the Duchesne County Attorney’s Office for review. Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to the family during this tragic time. The Roosevelt Police Department is committed to conducting a thorough investigation and encourages any witnesses to reach out at 435-722-2330.
