Finding and cutting down the Christmas tree up in the Ashley National Forest is an annual tradition for many local families and here’s the information you need to know ahead of time. Christmas tree permits can be purchased online at recreation.gov, or in person at a Forest Service office or these local vendors: Davis Food and Drug in Vernal or Roosevelt, Liberty Corner in Lapoint, Stewart’s Marketplace in Roosevelt, Hanna Country Store in Tabiona, and Flaming Gorge Resort in Daggett County. Ashley National Forest has also shared that fourth-graders who are participating in the Every Kid Outdoors program can receive a free Christmas tree permit. Free Christmas tree permits for the Every Kid Outdoors program are only available online, not at local vendors, and cannot be sent through the mail.
