If you didn’t catch the experience first hand, chances are you’ve seen photos from friends and family who saw the Northern Lights on Tuesday night but why were they visible? The Space Weather Prediction Center issued an alert of a severe solar storm from November 11th through the 12th that is responsible. This means that if you didn’t catch them on Tuesday night there is still a chance to catch them tonight, depending on weather conditions in your location. If the glow of colors to the north is not visible tonight to the naked eye, it’s still possible to catch a photo of the Northern Lights using your phone camera or a long exposure lens.
