A mobile home fire in which multiple pets were lost has fire officials in the region reminding all to adopt safe practices this winter to prevent tragedy. Colorado River Fire Rescue is urging all throughout the region to check smoke alarms regularly and ensure that heating systems are in safe working conditions as the temperatures drop. On November 5th, at 10:54 am, fire crews responded to a structure fire in Rifle and upon arrival found a single-wide mobile home with heavy smoke showing from the attic area of the structure. It took an hour to bring the fire under control. Thankfully, no residents were at home at the time but one dog and three cats were lost. The official cause of the fire has not been announced.
