Work on US-191 in Indian Canyon continues. Crews this fall have been working at multiple locations. The areas of focus have been or will be: Milepost 267-269 where crews are removing dirt to build six foot wide shoulders on each side of the road; Milepost 272-275 where crews are building the foundation for passing lane and chain-up/off areas. They have removed the paved shoulder of the road and are filling in the road base for a new passing lane and chain-up/chain-off areas; Milepost 285 and Right Fork Canyon Road where crews are preparing to widen the road shoulders near Right Fork Canyon Road to allow for easier turning; Milepost 291 and Skitzy Canyon Road where crews are preparing to widen the road shoulders near Skitzy Canyon Road to allow for easier turning; and Milepost 292 and Sowers Canyon Road where crews are preparing to widen the road shoulders near Sowers Canyon Road to allow for easier turning. Once the winter season hits, UDOT reports that crews plan to do dirt work south of the Summit to prepare for paving in the Spring. The Spring construction will focus on widening the road shoulders, adding chain-up/chain-off areas and building new climbing lanes south of the Summit.
