The celebration of Vernal’s Cobblerock Block a week ago does not indicate an end to downtown revitalization. “To continue the downtown beautification efforts,” explains City Manager Quinn Bennion, “Vernal City plans to design and construct the Sage Block with similar elements in the summer of 2026.” The Lamplighter block project is also underway, currently in the concept design process. The Cobblerock Block public project included replacing water lines (now adequate for fire hydrants and fire sprinklers), sewer lines, underground power lines, widened sidewalks, flower pots, trees, and drip lines. The project was funded with a combination of sources including: Rural Opportunity Grant, CIB, ARPA and Vernal City capital funds. The project was designed by Horrocks Engineering partnering with MHTN architects. BHI won the bid to construct the project with several local subcontractors part of the team to complete the work including Backhoe Supremo, Allred Landscaping and Stearns Construction.
