Community members joined the fun on Friday at a celebration of the Cobblerock Block revitalization. The transformation of the Cobblerock Block has been impressive and includes new water lines, sewer lines, underground power lines, widened sidewalks, flower pots, trees, drip lines, additional public parking, and a new patio area with a large shade structure. “Vernal’s pteranodon shade structure was installed last week and highlighted as part of the celebration,” shares Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion. “The shade structure materials were funded with a T-Mobile Hometown grant. The structure was designed by Vernal City’s Public Works Director/City Engineer, Keith Despain. The dino shade was fabricated and constructed by city street employees – led by Riley Harrison. The patio project will be finished off with string lights over the patio and LED lighting under the shade structure.” Members of the public are invited to submit name suggestions for the pteranodon. “To continue the downtown beautification efforts,” continues Bennion, “Vernal City plans to design and construct the Sage Block with similar elements in the summer of 2026. The Lamplighter block project is currently in the concept design process.”
