BLM Announces Intent To Amend Rock Springs RMP; Comment Period Open

The Bureau of Land Management announced last week their plan to amend the Rock Springs Resource Management Plan and a comment period is now open. The current RMP, that was hotly opposed by Wyoming citizens and leaders, was finalized in the last month of the Biden administration and was then put on hold by the Trump administration. The BLM amendment description states that “the Bureau of Land Management Rock Springs Field Office is proposing an amendment to the 2024 Rock Springs Resource Management Plan. The amendment responds to Executive Order 14154 and Secretarial Order 3418, both titled ‘Unleashing American Energy’, which direct federal agencies to reassess policies that may unnecessarily restrict access to domestic energy and mineral resources. The BLM determined that existing mineral restrictions and special management designations within the Rock Springs Field Office require re-evaluation under these orders.” The public scoping period opened on October 2nd and the BLM is accepting public comments.
