October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Uintah Special Service District 1 and Ashley Regional Medical Center have teamed up to promote women’s health and honor those affected by breast cancer throughout the month. Here’s just a few things happening: Register now for Strength in Strides to get in as many steps as you can and be entered for cash prizes. Nominate someone who has survived or is fighting breast cancer and how they have inspired you and they could be chosen for a special weekend getaway of pampering. That deadline is October 20th. As you enter the Rec Center ask the front desk for a ribbon to write the name of or a message to someone who has lost their fight with cancer, is a survivor, or still battling to hang on the Warrior Wall. Wear pink to any USSD1 parks in October and parks crew may see you and give you a prize. On Wednesday, join USSD1 and Ashley Regional by wearing pink to raise awareness and enter a raffle prize at the Rec Center front desk. Finally, all the events will culminate on October 25th with a Community Health Day event in the morning at the Rec Center that is free for those affected by breast cancer and USSD1 members or $7 for others to attend. Wear pink and come workout for a great cause! Learn more at the ‘Stronger In Pink – Unite For Breast Cancer Awareness’ Facebook event page.
