There was some extra traffic on Highway 40 through eastern Utah on Monday following an accident on I-70 that closed the interstate in both directions. The accident involved a diesel semi and a tractor trailer that collided before 6:00am Monday morning. The diesel semi spilled 21,000 gallons of fuel to spill at the crash site in the middle of the east and west I-70 lanes. The closure diverted I-70 traffic in both directions through Meeker, Craig and Steamboat into the afternoon. Westbound travelers made their way through eastern Utah on Highway 40 on snowy roads.
