Dinosaur National Monument announced on Thursday that as of September 12th, Dinosaur National Monument is rescinding the Stage 2 fire restrictions order that was enacted on August 1st. “Recent precipitation has lessened fire danger in the monument to a point where year-round restrictions provide the necessary fire prevention measures,” shares the announcement. “Year-round fire restrictions remain in effect.” Those restrictions include wood or charcoal fires restricted to permanent monument-installed metal fire rings or grills in the front country. Campfires are prohibited in the backcountry other than River Campsites where the fire must be contained in a firepan. In any historical structure, lighting and maintaining any type of fire, including but not limited to cigarettes, candles, lanterns, grills and stoves, is prohibited unless authorized by the Superintendent. And of course, discharging or using any kind of fireworks or other pyrotechnic devices are always prohibited on all federal public land, including Dinosaur National Monument.
