On his last day as Moffat County Commissioner this week, John Kinkaid had some thoughts to share on government regulation hurting his County and beyond. The U.S. Energy Information Administration released information Thursday stating that Colorado’s 2016 coal production was 11.4 million tons, down from 18.9 million in 2015. “It is my hope that our government will take its jackboot off the neck of America’s coal miners and railroad workers,” shares Kinkaid. “The jackboot of government over-regulation has been hurting our nation for decades. We have driven prosperity offshore and it was preventable.” Kinkaid also believes that the world needs a strong and prosperous United States. “We got off track and now it’s time to restore common sense and make common sense reform,” says the former Commissioner. “We are Americans. We do things, make things. We innovate and discover…We come to the aid of our friends. This is who we are.” Kinkaid has served as Moffat County Commissioner for the last four years. New Commissioners Ray Beck and Don Cook were sworn in on Tuesday, replacing Kinkaid and Chuck Grobe(Gro-Bee), and joining Commissioner Frank Moe who has two years remaining in his term.
