The ground breaking has officially taken place for the new Indoor Sports Court Facility Expansion project next to the Uintah Community Center. “Since the original construction of the current Recreation Center in 2008, expansion for additional indoor court space has been part of the long-term vision,” shares the USSD1 project announcement. “The 2012 Master Plan reaffirmed this goal, and in the 2022 updated Master Plan, the expansion remained the top priority and the next phase for development on the Kay Property (owned by USSD1)… In anticipation of funding opportunities, an RFP for a Design-Build team was issued in December 2024. The proposed design drew inspiration from Heber City’s indoor sports facility. After a thorough selection process, Jardine Builders and MB Design were chosen to lead the project.” CIB funding in the amount of a $7.6 million low-interest loan and $3.8 million grant is joined with match funds to make the project a reality. The matching funds and loan repayment will come from USSD1’s Capital Projects Fund, funded exclusively by mineral lease dollars.
