A special event will be part of this year’s Autumn Fest in Roosevelt next month. ‘Walk In Her Shoes’ is a short walk where anyone can put on some high heels and remember that many women go through sexual assault and domestic violence in our community. Avery McKenna, Community Outreach Specialist with Friends Against Family Violence, shares that Walk in Her Shoes is a powerful, symbolic event rooted in the international Walk a Mile in Her Shoes campaign. “This isn’t just a walk — it’s a public stand against rape, sexual assault, and gender-based violence. When men step into heels (or walk in solidarity), they step into the uncomfortable realities many women face daily.” The walk starts at 6:45pm on September 13th at the Constitution Park.
