The Indian Tribe Business Committee hosted a meeting of the Large Treaty Tribes Coalition in Pocatello, Idaho on August 8th. The Ute Business Committee shared that “during the meeting, the Tribal leaders discussed topics including Federal policies affecting Tribal Nations, Bureau of Indian Affairs reorganization, non-profits, and Tribal coalitions. The discussion of Federal policies included discussion about the sale of public lands and Tribal lands, homelands restoration efforts, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Federal policies, and the Tribal Tax and Investment Reform Act of 2025.” The Ute Business Committee also provided more details in a press release which concluded by stating that “the Tribal leaders expressed a commitment to advancing the interests of each of their own Tribes and their members while also unifying on issues where there is common ground amongst the large treaty Tribes.” The Coalition’s next meeting is planned for this fall.
