Stretch Of Mormon Trail Through Wyoming Recently Reopened

A stretch of trail through Wyoming has had an influx of visitors dressed in traditional pioneer clothing this summer after recently reopening after a decade-long closure, shares a report from Cowboy State Daily. This 29-mile section of what is known as the Mormon Trail holds special significance to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who have a tradition of recreating the journey of the pioneers in the 1800s who pushed or pulled handcarts to find their home in the west. Recreating the “Trek” experience is a common activity for members of the Church but having access to this  particular stretch of the Mormon Trail provides the real opportunity to walk where the pioneers walked. Jurisdictional issues and then eventually complications due to the pandemic were the reason the LDS Church stopped utilizing the trail for the summer Treks. With Church officials working with the BLM and state of Wyoming, complications have decreased and Treks like those enjoyed in the past are resuming.
