A stolen vehicle was on police radar in Roosevelt City before it had even been reported stolen by the owners. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, on July 17th, an officer recognized a woman who pulled into the parking lot of the police station as a suspect from a prior day’s call. The officer made contact with 35-year-old Minnie Amelia Gutierrez and along with asking her questions, the officer performed a records search and confirmed that Minnie had a suspended license. It was also revealed that the vehicle was not registered to her. The vehicle was then left in the police department parking lot. Later that day, the vehicle was reported stolen by the owner who had gone to work early that morning at UBTech and realized it was missing at around 6pm when leaving work. Camera footage showed a woman taking the vehicle. The owner called her husband who left his work and noticed their missing vehicle parked near his vehicle behind the courthouse which shares a parking lot with the police department. The next morning, Minnie Gutierrez was placed under arrest. She is charged with 2nd Degree Felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Misdemeanor Driving on a Suspended License.
