Duchesne County Emergency Management on Prepping for Spring Flooding

by | Feb 2, 2017 | News | 0 comments

The Duchesne County Emergency Management Office have issued their own warning concerning the above-average snowfall in the Uinta Mountains and the Uintah Basin this winter. “Sudden warming or a rain-on-snow event could trigger floods in certain parts of the county,” shares Emergency Management Director Mike Lefler. “If you are residing in an area where your property could be affected by high water levels, we encourage you to make plans and take action now to reduce the potential for damage or hazards that may arise from the anticipated spring run-off.” Duchesne County crews will have to focus first on protecting public infrastructure and the broader community needs rather than individual property owners’ needs. For this reason, the Duchesne County Emergency Management Office is urging property owners to take proactive measures now including stocking up on sandbags and clearing debris from nearby watercourses.
