Those opposed to the Bear Ears National Monument are taking action. Governor Gary Herbert is leading the trend, signing a resolution on Friday asking President Trump to rescind the designation. The resolution has been a hot topic with Utah legislators as House and Senate leaders debated HCR 11: Concurrent Resolution Urging the President to Rescind the Bear Ears National Monument Designation. The resolution passed, followed by the Governor’s quick approval and signature. Local county officials added their support to the resolution on Friday during the meeting of the 6 County Infrastructure Coalition. The Coalition which includes Duchesne, Uintah, Daggett, Carbon, Emery and San Juan Counties unanimously voted to support the resolution to see the Bear Ears Monument designation rescinded. Governor Herbert has said that President Trump could make the decision to rescind as soon as this week.
