Duchesne City residents and those passing through need to increase awareness as UDOT begins work on the intersection of Highway 191 and Highway 40 this week to prepare for a new traffic signal. “The contractor will be working on the shoulders boring holes to run conduit under the road,” shares Tuesday’s UDOT update. “They will also be cutting small holes in the road pavement to locate any utility lines under the road. Activities are expected to take about a week to complete between Tuesday, June 10th, and Wednesday, June 18th.” Travelers can expect work crews on the road shoulders during daytime hours and temporary single lane closures for up to 60 minutes during utility line work as crews need. Crews will also be south of Duchesne on Highway 191 between milepost 272 and 275 to remove existing paved shoulders in preparation for adding chain up/off areas and a new passing lane. Travelers can expect lanes restricted to 11 feet wide at all times, the speed limit reduced to 40 mph near work zones, and steeper dirt shoulders on the edge of the road. Work hours are 7am through 7pm Monday through Friday. You can expect single lane-alternating traffic controlled by a pilot car operation with approximately 30-minute delays in each direction. All lanes will be open outside of work hours.
