Family in Vehicle Falls Through Ice on Flaming Gorge; Body Retrieved

Tragedy struck over the weekend on Flaming Gorge when an all-terrain vehicle fell through the ice. According to the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, a family of four was traveling on the ice near Anvil Draw south of Green River on Saturday afternoon when the ice broke. Three family members were able to get out of the water but one Utah woman was unable to surface. Sweetwater Sheriff Mike Lowell said divers and support personnel from the Sweetwater Dive Team and the Green River Fire Department Ice Rescue Team located and recovered the body of 59-year-old Rebecca Weston of Plain City, Utah, at about 1:07pm on Sunday in 100 feet of water about 500 yards from the Anvil Draw boat dock. The family from the Ogden area was on an ice fishing outing when the tragedy occurred.
