Calls to dispatch of a reckless driver unable to maintain safe lane travel in the Neola area ended in arrest for a repeat DUI offender. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, 39-year-old Shane Sandy Sangster was traveling in a Chevy truck and a responding officer located the vehicle as it sat perpendicular in the roadway for over 5 seconds as it was attempting to make a U-turn on SR-121. The officer then observed the vehicle unable to maintain its lane, crossing over the center line and fog line multiple times. A stop was initiated and the driver was identified as Shane Sangster. Field sobriety testing was performed. It was determined that Sangster was impaired and he was placed under arrest. It was found that Sangster already had 2 or more prior DUI convictions in 10 years and Shane should not be operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device as an alcohol restricted driver. A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia with a white powder substance. Sangster was transported to Duchesne County Jail and is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Driving Under the Influence, as well as additional drug and traffic charges.
