The U.S. Supreme Court decision to uphold the federal environmental review of the Uinta Basin Railway is being celebrated by Utah leaders. “This is welcome news for Americans who want energy that is affordable, reliable, and clean,” shares Senator John Curtis. “If we’re serious about unleashing American energy, we need to give the sector what it needs most: predictable rules and freedom from arbitrary delays. Litigious groups have weaponized NEPA to stall critical projects—oil, gas, wind, solar, nuclear and more. I’ll keep pushing for real permitting reform to unlock our full potential.” Congressman Mike Kennedy was also among those celebrating the news. “This Supreme Court ruling is a huge win for the Basin and for every community that’s been handcuffed by radical overreach,” shares Representative Kennedy. “The Uinta Basin Railway will unlock economic opportunity, energy independence, and jobs here at home that support Utah families. I’ve supported this project from my time in the Utah legislature and now in Congress because it’s about doing what’s right, standing up to weaponized bureaucracy, and putting Utahns back in control of their future. This decision reins in NEPA abuse and restores some much-needed common sense to the permitting process. We’re finally getting things back on track and moving forward to make Utah and America stronger than ever before.” Upon completion, the Uinta Basin Railway will connect the Uinta Basin to the national freight network.
