Cocaine and a stash of firearms were located in the vehicle during a DUI arrest on 100 East Main in Vernal over the weekend. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, 32-year-old Tyler Blanchard of Texas was pulled over on a traffic stop. The Officer detected the odor of alcohol and asked if Blanchard had been drinking, which he indicated that he had. Field sobriety testing was performed and it was determined he was unsafe to be driving. Following a PBT, Blanchard was placed under arrest. He asked the Officer to retrieve his wallet and phone from the vehicle and Cocaine was located. When asked, Blanchard said he last used Cocaine 2 hours prior to the stop. A search of the vehicle located 3 baggies and multiple dollar bills with Cocaine inside. Firearms that Blanchard previously mentioned to the Officer were located in the driver door, next to the driver’s seat, clipped to the center console, tucked between the center console and driver seat, and two rifles on the back seat. Two of the handguns were loaded. Multiple open containers were also found inside the vehicle. Blanchard was booked into Uintah County Jail for the following charges: Possession of a Dangerous Weapon with Narcotics, Possession of a Controlled Substance, DUI, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Open Container of Alcohol.
