A UBTech announcement made this week comes after years of overwhelming requests from the community. Uintah Basin Technical College has announced that a Nail Technician Program is coming to the Vernal campus and is anticipated to begin in July of 2026. The UBTech announcement shares that the decision to launch the program comes in direct response to overwhelming interest from the community. UBTech administration began exploring the opportunity in September of 2023 and actively pursued grant funding in 2024. While funding was not secured in 2024, the College was able to secure and repurpose enough ongoing funding for the faculty needed to support a Nail Technician program in Fiscal Year 2027. “We’ve received incredible support from the community and local industry partners,” said Michiel Bostick, Vice President of Instructional Services at UBTech. “We’re especially grateful for the community members who reached out, shared their ideas, and encouraged us to explore this opportunity. Their voices played a key role in shaping this new program.” Further cosmetology programming is being explored for the future.
