Eleven teachers from elementary schools in the Uintah School District were awarded checks for $7,000 dollars after meeting the high criteria for a special state incentive program. The Effective Teachers in High Poverty Schools incentive program was created in 2017 and awards teachers that teach in grades Kindergarten through 3rd and achieve certain student growth in at least one tested subject area, as well as other requirements. Uintah School District presented checks for $7,000 each to Amanda Gardiner, Laura LeVitre, Heather Coxson, Bernadette Ferriera, Judy Foley, Neyca Ireland, Meghan Lemon, Reen Slagowski, Christopher Martin and Mindy Rasmussen. This is the second consecutive year that Ferriera, Foley, Lemon and Slagowski have received the award.
