Rent And Doordash Among Purchases In Case Of Alleged Caregiver Abuse

A Uintah County woman was arrested on Tuesday following an investigation into alleged caregiver financial abuse. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, an investigation was opened after thousands of dollars of unauthorized transactions were discovered in the finances of an elderly individual that requires 24/7 care. Among the fraudulent transactions was rent payments for March 2025, insurance, and DoorDash. The investigation revealed a pattern of unauthorized usage primarily tied to a caregiver who had access to the personal information as an employed caregiver of the elderly individual. On May 20th, Kimberlee Kelly was taken into custody. She admitted while interviewed to using the card to pay rent though she claims she received verbal permission to do so. She also acknowledged to investigators that she knew that this was a vulnerable adult and what she did was wrong. She was booked into Uintah County Jail on one count of 3rd Degree Felony Financial Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult, one count of 3rd Degree Felony Unlawful Possession of a Financial Card, and one count of 3rd Degree Felony Unlawful Use of a Financial Card.
