Prescribed Burning Visible From Mirror Lake Highway

Fire personnel are working on and burning piles on the U.S. Forest Service Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest and the smoke may be visible from Mirror Lake Highway. The project area is along the North Slope Road by Carter Creek. “Planned fires, also called prescribed fires, are essential for fuels reduction treatments in high-risk areas to reduce wildfire risk, protect private property values and keep forests in good health,” shares the announcement. “Access to the project area is restricted for public health and safety.” Smoke is visible in the surrounding areas, including Mirror Lake Highway. Please do not report the smoke. The burns are expected to run through Wednesday, May14th, depending on the weather.
