A Vernal man is facing rape charges for alleged actions that took place at the end of April. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, a sexual assault was reported, naming Kelby Wade Lane as the perpetrator. Lane was arrested on May 6th and agreed to be interviewed by investigators. Lane admitted that the sexual assault took place and that it was forced upon the victim. He stated that the victim told him, “Don’t touch me.” Kelby Lane is charged with 1st Degree Felony Rape, Object Rape, and Forcible Sodomy. The judge approved the order to be held without bail and Lane’s initial appearance is scheduled in court on May 13th.
