A well deserved honor was given to a Uintah County man during this spring’s Vernal Youth Baseball Club Opening Day ceremony. Dan Mortenson was inducted into the Vernal Youth Baseball Club Hall of Fame. “Dan Mortenseon has been a staple of the Vernal baseball community for over 60 years,” shares the announcement. “His wife Cindy and children Ryan, Rick, Rory and Misti have always supported Dan in his volunteer service aspirations which have always included Vernal Youth Baseball. Dan is a family man and for all these years, the fields, teams and boards have been filled with his influence and contributions. Dan’s influence both known and unknown has shaped the area baseball program. The ways that are known are too numerous to count, the experiences and stories and even legends are countless…” Mortenson is the Founder of the American Legion Post 11 baseball team and the creator of the Vernal Youth Baseball Scholarship Program. “There is never a kid involved in this program that doesn’t have Dan’s watchful eye,” the announcement continues. “Whether it’s a glove, helmet, bat or sometimes even the participation fee, Dan is always watching out for the kids. His donations of time and resources are countless. His sacrifices for the kids are inspiring.” Congratulations to Dan Mortenson on this well deserved honor!
