Several Roosevelt homeowners are at odds with an oil and gas company, alleging that blasts at the company’s site caused damage to their homes’ foundations. The homeowners spoke to ABC4 about their frustration, stating that their homes shook during the blasts performed by SM Energy Company that even continued after they were told they would end. One homeowner said he had his home professionally assessed following the blasts and was quoted around $80,000 dollars for repairs to the foundation. While the alleged damage is not specifically addressed, SM Energy Company released the following statement in response: “In the course of constructing a well site, SM Energy conducted limited rock removal operations. Prior to beginning this work, we proactively reached out to all homeowners within the area to provide advance notice and information about the planned activity. After work commenced, a small number of homeowners raised concerns. In response, SM Energy immediately suspended the operations causing concern and adjusted our construction methods to limit impact on the surrounding community. We are working individually with each concerned homeowner to fully understand their concerns and to address them directly.”
