A road trip to the ‘Taking Control of Diabetes’ Conference in Salt Lake next month will be well worth the time of locals, shares TriCounty Health Department. According to TriCounty Health Educator Ferron Young, the health department is offering a scholarship for those wanting to attend the conference. The national conference only comes to select cities so this is a rare opportunity to have it this close. The conference founder, Dr. Steve Edelman, has spent his life defining a new way to teach individuals how to live healthy and happy lives with diabetes. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 15 and has lived well with the disease for over four decades. TriCounty Health Department’s scholarship will provide transportation to the event, all meals, and reimbursement for the registration fee. Those interested can apply at www.tricountyhealth.com but applications must be submitted by March 12th. The all day conference is being held at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City on April 8th.
