The Uintah County Commission approved the USU Extension contract during Monday’s Commission meeting. Extension Director Boyd Kitchen reported that the USU Extension budget for 2017 is $173,200 dollars. Reports were also given to the Commission. Suzie Prevedel, assistant professor for family and consumer sciences, reported that the extension has worked in educating in family finance as well as food. The program educates throughout the community and teaches how to get the most bang for your food buck and brings in about $47,000 of external funding to the community. 4H representative Tracy Frost also reported stating that last year there were 290 adult volunteers and 40 youth volunteers that helped with 4H. 423 youth were enrolled in Uintah County in 4H and 1,746 youth attended 4H activities.
