An ordinance on Monday’s Uintah County Commission meeting agenda has been tabled until a third Commissioner is seated. The ordinance proposes to revise the “Parliamentary Procedure Rule regarding Voting Rights of Members of the Board of County Commissioners.” Addressing the concern of citizens, Commissioner Bill Stringer emphasized that this is not an attempt to remove a third Commissioner. “This is not to remove Parliamentary Procedure from this board,” stated Commissioner Stringer. “However, there are issues that are time sensitive…like board appointments…and this is specific to those things where time is involved and this is just to get [a motion] to a vote.” During the meeting, the Commissioners reappointed Corinda McKee to the Impact Mitigation board and appointed Gale Rasmussen to replace Stan Gordon on the Uintah Transportation Special Service District board, both for terms expiring December 31st, 2020. During public comment at the end of the meeting, Stan Gordon asked the Commissioners why Kevin VanTassell was not the person appointed to the transportation board and accused Commissioner Horrocks for wanting to appoint “his people.” Gordon said that he had been told VanTassell would be his replacement and that VanTassell had been contacted and accepted the position but now was not appointed. Commissioner Horrocks indicated that it was Commissioner McKee that had wanted Senator VanTassell in that position.
