If you’re hoping to search for more than eggs this coming Easter, you’re in luck! The Division of Wildlife Resources is hosting a special event over Easter weekend to view the white, furry animals that live in the steep terrain of the Uinta Mountains. Mountain goats are considered Utah’s mountain yetis and biologists estimate that on a drive in Rock Creek Road, citizens will see between 10 and 30 mountain goats wintering in the canyon. “Keeping the road open, to the Stillwater Dam, creates a unique viewing opportunity in the winter,” shares DWR biologist Randall Thacker. Those interested in the viewing event are invited
on Saturday, April 15th
to simply drive up Rock Creek Road until past the U.S. Forest Service boundary sign. Biologists will be parked along the road with spotting scopes set up to get an upclose look at the incredible climbers in their shaggy, wintery, white coats. Those interested in attending are encouraged to come prepared with warm clothes and snacks. For more information, call
