Phase 1 of a much anticipated project in Roosevelt is wrapping up this spring and excitement is growing. The Rough Rider Shooting Complex is having some finishing touches done on Phase 1 and a Grand Opening announcement is pending. The entrance road and 200 Yard Range are complete, power lines have been relocated, and the installation of benches and shelters is on track. This is an outdoor shooting complex and the plan is to have targets up to 1000 yards. The project is funded by Roosevelt City, the Wildlife Conservation Fund, and Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration. The Roosevelt City website lists the budget at $470,000 dollars: $300,000 dollars from Roosevelt City with anticipated donations of $170,000 dollars. An announcement will be made once an opening date is determined.
