Roosevelt City is doing their part to follow through on helping residents of the Stonegate Subdivision. The subdivision was annexed last year into Roosevelt City as multiple parties have worked together to try and find a solution to the area’s failing septic systems. Today, Roosevelt City is on the schedule before the Community Impact Board to seek funding for the Stonegate Sewer line. Once funded, plans for a gravity-fed sewer system that will connect with Roosevelt City can move forward. The situation has been a hot topic for the last 5 years that turned into a legal mess for the health department, local counties, cities and the residents affected. The lawsuit was filed by residents of Stonegate Subdivision who suffered serious septic tank failure as the neighborhood dealt with rising water tables. The lawsuit was partially dismissed without prejudice earlier this year in U.S. District Court as efforts continue forward to have the subdivision hooked up to the Roosevelt City sewer system. Applications for funding the sewer project have been submitted to both the Utah Water Quality Board and the Community Impact Board.
