Access to be Controlled at Law Enforcement Area of Buckskin Hills Shooting Range

The Buckskin Hills Shooting Range is considered among the best facilities of its kind in the nation and proposed changes are aimed at improved management and safety. According to Uintah County Commissioner Bill Stringer, improvements in conjunction with the Knife and Gun Club, NRA and local shooting groups have made for an even better venue. There have, however, been some unfortunate events of vandalism in the area, prompting likely changes. First, the Sheriff’s law enforcement range is moving towards being closed off from the public. Second, Buckskin Hills as a whole will change its hours from dawn till dusk. “There’s not a lot of need for shooting after dark,” shares Stringer. There could also be controlled access to some of the specialized venues like the long range for safety purposes. There would not be a fee to use these but there would be controlled access. Stringer said there will be public meetings coming up and no changes will come as a surprise.
