Uintah County, Vernal City and Naples City are working together to address an irrigation ditch along 500 South that is putting the airport fence in danger. According to Uintah County Commissioner Duane Shepherd, the issue runs on the south side of the road from 500 East to about 1200 East which covers ground owned by each entity. There is erosion to the soil already affecting the airport fence which was an expensive investment. It will keep eroding, says Shepherd. Vernal City Council Member Bert Clark emphasized that the responsibility should be with the irrigation company. Commissioner Shepherd said a timely solution is of the essence as the fence is in danger. It was agreed the irrigation company would be approached and that the county and cities would work together to see that a solution is found.
