7 County Coalition Contributes to Swinging Bridge Repair

Who could forget the day in June of 2014 when a blue 10 ton tractor broke halfway through the Browns Park Swinging Bridge and sat suspended over the Green River? For over two years, Colorado officials worked to secure funding to enable the bridge to be repaired and fully functional again. The one lane swinging bridge has long been considered a favorite tourist attraction in Northwest Colorado. While the state of Colorado stepped up to provide majority of the funding, contributions from Utah are also being made due to the importance of the bridge to Daggett County and in providing emergency services. The BLM, 7 County Infrastructure Coalition, and others have stepped forward to contribute to the $1.5 million dollar cost for the repair. “This bridge is important,” shares Director of the 7 County Infrastructure Coalition Mike McKee. “Funding is now secured to go ahead…and build a different type of bridge instead for a much better situation.”
