Mile Marker 166 Fire Fully Contained

The Mile Marker 166 Fire in eastern Uintah County is fully contained. The Uintah Basin Interagency Fire Center confirmed that crews achieved full containment by the end of last week. According to the state fire information website, GPS mapping of the fire shows that the fire was 2423 acres as opposed to the previously reported 900 acres. The Mile Marker 166 Fire was first reported on May 30th and initially Highway 40 was shut down to assist with firefighting efforts. Burning on BLM land, the firefighting efforts have overall been from BLM crews. The fire is listed as human caused though the specific cause is still unknown.
