It was a busy weekend in the Vernal area with hotels sold out, restaurants packed and visitors enjoying a variety of events. The 7th Annual Basin Bash baseball tournament was a major contributor to the boost bringing in 45 teams from Wyoming, Colorado and the Wasatch Front. The 2nd annual ATV Jamboree was also held with great success. “We had all kinds of events going on,” shared Uintah County Director of Travel and Tourism Lesha Coltharp. “Events are crucial to communities like ours.” The ATV Jamboree had 88 vehicles register for the event which is over double from last year. 35 additional vehicles were also provided for a total of 118 vehicles out riding local trails for 3 days. This amounted to over 300 riders from 9 states, explains Coltharp, who believes the event has the potential to continue doubling each year. The event had 6 trails to ride and the only complaint was that none of the trails were on the Ashley National Forest. Event organizers were unsure how trails would be in the forest due to late snow melt but the hope is that next year there will be more than 6 trails with some in the forest.
