Roosevelt City is undertaking a major streets project this summer to be completed this fall. The State Street Widening and Storm Drain Improvement project will run from approximately 800 South to 1400 South. According to Roosevelt City Manager Ryan Snow, currently there is an open drain there and the project will pipe the canal, widen the road, and then put curb, gutter, and sidewalk along the west side of the street. Another significant part of the project will be to chip seal 15 miles of road throughout the city. “That is a lot to cover when you consider we have 40 total miles of road in city limits,” explains Snow. The project cost is approximately $2.6 million dollars. $1.6 million dollars of that is funding from UDOT and the rest will be pulled from the city’s 2017 and 2018 Street Maintenance budgets. Burdick Materials is the contractor on the project.
