The moving parts of the Stonegate sewer project have finally aligned and plans for construction are moving forward. The project is funded through the Community Impact Board and Department of Environmental Quality in the form of $4 million dollars in grant funding and $1.6 million dollars in a zero percent interest loan. The residents agreed to the loan package and Roosevelt City Council approved the project during Tuesday’s council meeting. The subdivision was annexed last year into Roosevelt City as multiple parties have worked together to try and find a solution to the area’s failing septic systems. Plans for the project include a gravity-fed sewer system that will connect with Roosevelt City’s sewer system. Getting to this point was a long time coming. A lawsuit, filed by residents of Stonegate Subdivision against Roosevelt City, Duchesne County and TriCounty Health, was resolved earlier this year in U.S. District Court. Construction will take at least a year and would be complete in July 2018 at the earliest.
