Two men are in the hospital being treated for gunshot wounds after an incident in Maeser on Thursday morning. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received calls of shots fired at 6:30am near 2500 West and 660 South. One wounded man was picked up and brought to Ashley Regional Medical Center by a “concerned citizen” as he walked down the street from where the shooting occurred. A second wounded man “left the scene in a black Pontiac Grand Am that later crashed into a semaphore pole at the intersection of 2000 West and 500 North. The car had one bullet hole by the gas tank and one in the rear passenger door. An ambulance transported the man to Ashley Regional Medical Center.” Both men remain in the hospital in critical condition. While there is no available information on the shooter, the Sheriff’s Office confirms that a third man is in custody and deputies do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public. There is not a clear motive at this point and the investigation is ongoing as they work to obtain multiple search warrants. The Sheriff’s Office asks that anyone with information contact Central Dispatch at 435-789-4222.
