A Uintah County Jail nurse has been charged for illegally distributing prescription drugs in the jail. 57-year-old Helen Marie Bemis has been charged with one count of Misdemeanor Unlawful Conduct of Pharmacy Practices and one count of Misdemeanor Possession of a Prescription Drug for any Unlawful Purpose. Court documents list the approximate offense dates as January 10th and January 31st. According to a KSL report, Bemis allegedly stockpiled prescription medication from previous inmates and on at least one of the dates in question gave an inmate a mixture of antacid and lidocaine without a prescription. Bemis is scheduled to appear in 8th District Court on July 11th.
