Man Arrested for Serious Domestic Abuse that Took Place Near Monument

A Park City man was arrested Monday for a serious domestic abuse situation that allegedly lasted 3 days and took place near Dinosaur National Monument. According to Summit County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on July 3rd at approximately 4:20am to a report of a kidnapping. “The victim, a 45-year-old female, escaped from a Summit County residence and telephoned 9-1-1. The victim stated that she had been tied up, duct taped, and assaulted for three days,” shared the Sheriff’s Office. “Deputies made contact with the victim and immediately transported her to the hospital for medical assessment.” Deputies were able to locate the suspect, 47-year-old Jason Stone, without incident and Stone was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail. Stone has been charged with felony Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, Witness Tampering, and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. He is being held on $100,000 dollars cash only bail.

Stone was allegedly on a camping trip over the weekend in Dinosaur National Monument when he repeatedly beat his girlfriend, tied her up with duct tape and held her against her will for the weekend camping trip. When the couple returned to Stone’s home in Park City the woman was able to escape early Monday morning and contacted Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
